Make Mine an Indie

This series began in August 2015, when I made the resolution that 2016 would be my year of buying only from independent bookshops and publishers. To further that aim and make sure I was aware of the potential awesome around me I began featuring an independent publisher each Saturday here on the blog. Most are UK based but some aren't, and in 2016 I will be continuing the feature with publishers from around the world.

The Telling Tales Challenge

During 2012 and 2013 I ran a reading challenge called the Telling Tales Challenge, aimed at reading all things fairytale and mythology related.

The Master List of all the reviews people have written for this challenge can be found here and is pretty awesome if I do say so myself!

The sign up post for 2013 is now up and can be found here.
The master list for 2013 is here.

2013 - A Year of Reading Edith Nesbit

2011 reading Noel Streatfeild was very successful, last year reading Louisa May Alcott was a lot less so. As a child I adored E. Nesbit's books, and she follows the tradition of being a woman whose books I adore but who has written a huge amount more than I was aware. Also, Noel Streatfeild wrote a biography of her which I didn't get around to reading in 2011, so there we go! Read more about it here

2012 - A Year of Reading Louisa May Alcott

Following the fun I had in 2011 reading Noel Streatfeild books, I've decided to make the challenge an annual thing, and a way of discovering the more obscure books of writers I love. For 2012, my author of choice is Louisa May Alcott, creator of one of my all time favourite books, Little Women. For this year, I've also added biographical material and spin offs of her work to my list, as a way of broadening my reading experience.

I'll be listing what I've read as I go, and linking to my reviews.

What I've read in 2012:

A complete (ish) list of her work and a short biography is here.

2011 - A Year of Reading Noel Streatfeild

During 2011 I set myself a challenge to read as many Noel Streatfeild books as possible. This is what I read:
